What it pays
No flat salary. The higher rate reflects the added responsibility of observing, coaching, correcting and supervising a student driver.
Mileage pay only — before Trainer Bonuses. Trainer mileage earnings depend on assignment mileage and schedule. The Trainer Bonus adds $1,000 for each graduated student. Annualized from 52 comparable weeks. Not a salary and not a guarantee.
Who qualifies
- 12 months minimum total driving experience
- No major accidents
- No major tickets
- Qualification as a regular HC-PHX driver — trainers clear the same bar every driver does, first
- Criminal background check and drug screen
- Standard driver qualification requirements for the role
Experience alone doesn't make someone a trainer. We're looking for drivers whose habits we'd want copied.
From inside, or from outside.
Many of our trainers came up through HC-PHX — drove the freight, learned the operation, then took on students. That path is open to any driver here who meets the bar.
Qualified experienced drivers may also be considered directly for Trainer opportunities — you do not need prior HC-PHX tenure to apply.
